In the early days of my website, The BTS Effect, I created a spot to post personal narratives from ARMY about how BTS impacted their lives.

The goal was to create a positive space where ARMY could share their stories, hopefully to stand in some opposition to the toxicity often found online (both inside and outside of fandom). Now, I’m moving this opportunity to Medium, which I think will be a platform better suited for this idea.

With that, I’d like to welcome ARMY to submit their stories! Please read below to learn what you can submit and how to submit. Additionally, if you’d like to share this opportunity, please consider sharing a link to this post, or one of the social posts here (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).

SUBMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED.

What Can I Submit?

  • The BTS Effect is welcoming submissions of personal narratives from ARMY about how BTS has affected their lives.
  • All submissions must be on the theme of how BTS has affected or impacted you in some way.
  • Your submission can discuss your personal journey with BTS, how they have influenced your life, what impacts they’ve had on your life, how they have inspired you, etc.
  • Submissions should be between 500–1000 words and be written in English. Regardless of submission length, the post should be substantial, tell a story, and provide any necessary citations.
  • The goal is to publish positive stories that highlight the effects BTS has had on their fandom. However, your personal story may involve some negative topics (such as bullying, for example). You can definitely submit stories that deal with these issues, but please be sure to include content warnings.

How to Submit

  • Please create a Medium account if you haven’t already. This will ensure you keep access to your post.
  • After you’ve drafted your piece in Medium, send me your Medium account name and a link to the draft of your post. You can email me at bangtaneffect@gmail.com. (Click the three dots at the top of your story, then select ‘share draft link.’)
  • Further instructions will be given after I receive your submission.
  • Please avoid foul language, real names of any persons mentioned (unless you have permission), and your specific location (listing a large city or a state is fine). This is to protect privacy.

Important Notes

I will not make any changes to your story except for copyedits. However, if the subject matter is inappropriate, I reserve the right to decline a submission or to request changes. I also reserve the right to decline submissions that are not substantial enough.
